Job Summary
The Senior Buyer performs daily functions associated with the procurement of product for resale as well as consumables. Responsible for developing a best practices approach for purchasing products, at the most competitive price, maintaining supplier relationships, while ensuring the accuracy of all purchasing processes.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Issue purchase orders to approved suppliers.
- As assigned - issue purchase orders to maintain adequate stocking levels for “A” items.
- Establish min/max system for replenishment and issue purchase orders for consumables.
- Perform other daily administrative tasks to support purchasing department.
- When necessary, expedite product to ensure timely delivery.
- As needed – assist Quality Department in conflict resolution with discrepant parts, paperwork, freight damage, returns, etc.
- Create strong and lasting relationships with suppliers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum BS degree with business emphasis.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a buyer.
- Strong MS Office skill set with particular emphasis on excel.
- Strong negotiation skills and relationship building.
- Organized and accurate in the deployment of purchase orders.
- Establish rapport with suppliers and maintain a positive working relationship with them.
- Responsive to the needs of the organization’s service level and stock requirements
Physical Requirements
- This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.
